Overview
The RF28mm F2.8 STM lens
is a super-compact, wide-angle lens great for travel, street photography, and
video and is a great entry point for full frame EOS R cameras. Great for still
photography and videography, 28mm has been the starting point for getting a
wide-angle “look” in pictures and video for decades — wide enough on a
full-frame camera, to have a distinct wide-angle character, and yet not so wide
that it becomes a challenge to use. This lens absolutely can also be used with
APS-C sensor EOS R-series cameras, like the EOS R7, R10, and R50. Its
super-compact design combines beautifully with them, and on an APS-C sensor, it
provides coverage equal to a standard 45mm lens. Its super-flat design belies
the fact that this lens delivers 28mm wide-angle coverage on full frame
cameras, along with an f/2.8 maximum aperture. The lens’s minimum focus
distance is approximately 9 inches; it accepts 55mm filters, and with the
incredibly small front lens element, it uses an optional, dedicated Canon
screw-in lens hood EW-55. This compact 28mm RF lens is worth checking out, even
if you already own other wide-angle lenses, and carries an attractive price,
putting it within reach of many Canon EOS R-series users.

FEATURES
An Ultra-Portable “Everyday” Lens For When Weight and Size Matter
The RF28mm F2.8 STM makes for a lightweight and comfortable, all-day lens whether you are vlogging or shooting stills. It's ideal for capturing everything you see along the way, especially if you are traveling. Even when shooting with an APS-C camera (45mm equivalent), it is still a very capable lens to capture everything around you. Best of all, it won’t break the bank.
Excellent Image Quality
Taking advantage of the Canon RF lens mount, the RF28mm F2.8 STM lens offers great optical quality, edge-to-edge. Its optical design includes three aspheric elements, and Canon Super Spectra Coating (SSC) to minimize ghosting and flare. And the f/2.8 aperture really shines in low-light situations.
Gear-Type STM
Canon's stepping motor (STM) technology is especially effective at producing smooth, quiet autofocus during video recording, even in low light. This lens is a perfect choice for multi-media content creation with quiet autofocus. And, STM focus drive provides responsive, quick - and exceptionally quiet - AF during still-image shooting, as well.
Control Ring For Direct Setting Changes
The RF28mm F2.8 STM lens incorporates a Focus/Control ring on the lens barrel that can directly adjust numerous settings including shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and more. Located towards the front of the lens and effectively adding a third dial to the EOS R camera's main dial and quick control dial. This Focus/Control ring can quickly be set to AF, MF, or Control thanks to the dedicated switch on the barrel of the lens.
Impressively Compact And Light At Only 0.26 lbs/4.23 oz.
The compact size and light weight of the lens makes it an ideal companion on long days and adventures. It is also handy for a day out shooting and when you want to be creative without having to carry multiple lenses.
